This Weekend: Solace of the Traveling Pants
Through the miracle of modern technology, I'll actually be busy at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber's Business Expo (come visit. I'll give you a spotoball) when this is posted. Advanced stuff, I know. It makes me realize that I could just work super hard for about a month and then take the next month off. In fact, you don't know that I'm not doing just that. A month from now you could be reading a "This Weekend:" post about Christmas at Hersheypark and I might be updating my Twitter account from the beach in Tahiti. Anyway, back to reality and the goings-on of this weekend.
Friday night, once again, comes down to theater, music and movies. Theater-wise, Poe Evermore continues its run at Mount Hope, Julius Caesar continues its run at Gamut Classic Theatre and The Sound of Music continues its run at the Whitaker Center. Also Pennsylvania Youth Music and Theatrics will stage Chicago at the Carlisle Theatre which seems like an odd choice for youth theater, but is always a good time. Also East Pennsboro High School will perform The Curious Savage, a show I know next to nothing about. On the music front, Oakhurst will continue the November Bluegrass Series at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg. If you’d like to see a movie other than Quantum of Solace (let’s be honest now, why would you? I’m a James Bond maniac), Messiah College will be showing Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. I have been wondering what Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget have been up to, but if Blake Lively wants me to go see one of her movies, she’ll just have to become a Bond Girl.
Saturday has literally the exact same theater options, so just click on the first link to get Saturday’s showtimes. If you’re looking to get out with the kids, the Northern Dauphin Library will be hosting a Library Renaissance Faire, which is sure to delight. It’s roughly 1,000,000 times less expensive than the one at Mount Hope too. Shifting gears wildly, if you’ve ever wanted to learn to play the didgeridoo or just enjoy listening to other people play the didgeridoo, then the ArtHouse Lounge is your place Saturday night. Shifting gears once again, if you enjoy smoking cigarettes but don’t like paying for them, the Harrisburg Hardware Bar is having another Smokers’ Rights Party.
Sunday, the Hershey Theatre will screen A Christmas Story, so like it or not, the Holiday season is here. Also, the Pink Spiders will be playing live at the Champion Ship.
As for me, I’ll be car shopping (the Volvo didn’t make it through inspection… grrrrr), and hopefully watching Bond. Have fun kids, and don’t forget. Come see me at the Business Expo!

Darn! No comments yet.
You know it's really sad when people ignore each other and right now I feel really ignored. Would you like to help start a conversation now?
