Pumpkin Pi
For those of you who asked me how to find the volume of a cylinder this weekend, now I don't mind telling you that the formula is V=π r^2 h. Lot of good it does you now, right? Spotobe had great weather and a great time at the Pennsboro Pumpkin Fest, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out and kept us company throughout the two days. The guessing contest seemed to be a hit, and we got well over 1,000 entries. We're in the process of figuring out just how many balls were really inside Perry the Pumpkin, and I promise we'll let you know soon. I can assure you that it is somewhere between our high guess of 50,023,000 and our low guess of 68.

Whoever is lucky enough to win gets a $300 gift card to Giant, and these days, who couldn’t use that? I was touched by how many children really wanted to win the gift card so they could give it to their parents, but one of my favorite parts of the event was listening to kids who planned on keeping the prize for themselves tell their parents what they were going to buy when they won. One little boy said he was planning on buying $300 worth of Pringles. I remember another girl saying she would use it to buy cheese. If I were her, I would save about $20 to buy Pepto.
I know the Spotobe team was really impressed with the Pumpkin Fest as a whole. Everyone, staff and attendees included, was wonderfully friendly and gracious. Honestly, I was too busy to walk around and see everything that was going on, but everyone who stopped by our area seemed to be happy. The Jellybricks sounded pretty good from a few hundred yards away as well. I have to say though, the ratio of food vendors to festival area was absolutely bonkers. I have never seen that many different varieties of stomach-ache inducing food in one place in my life.
The fact that we managed to give away/eat almost 2,000 Pixie Stix and and Airheads combined probably didn’t help. I saw many a mother drop her head when her kids realized we were giving away those heavenly little tubes of sugar, artificial flavoring and dye. We started setting up by about 7:15 Saturday morning, and since I hadn’t had any coffee, I was pounding Pixie Stix like crazy. By about 10:30 I was shaking, so I apologize to any parents whose children slipped into a sugar-induced manic state.
If you’re a new friend we met this weekend, thanks for stopping by. We hope you’ll come back even if you don’t end up winning. All in all, the event was a blast. If you didn’t come this time, maybe you’ll see us there next year.

You know it's really sad when people ignore each other and right now I feel really ignored. Would you like to help start a conversation now?
