My Pay For Play
A loyal Spotobe reader pointed this out to me, and it looks like it’s worth a shout. Starting Thursday morning, the People’s Morning Show on 105.7 the X will kick off the second annual People’s Pay for Play benefiting the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. It seems like a cool gimmick and it’s definitely a worthy cause.
According to 1057thex.com, the crew from the People’s Morning Show (Nipsy, Earl and Jen Shade) will stay on the air from 5:00am on Thursday to 9:00am on Friday playing anything and everything you are willing to pay to hear. Last year the event raised almost $50,000 which is very cool. The price breakdown is as follows:
$25 for any song the station currently plays
$25 for any favorite morning show sound clips
$50 for any song that the station has in its catalog, but does not normally play (bootleg weekend cuts, b-sides)
$100 for older rock songs or bands the station does not play
$100 for songs by local bands
$250 to reserve a timeslot in any category
$500 to play ANYTHING else
So for a mere $800 you can hear a set of The Day that Never Comes by Metallica, The Donald and Goofy Interview, the guy from Fuel singing Daniel by Elton John, Red Barchetta by Rush, 18 by Bridges and a Bottle and Africa by Toto. Can you beat that? (I am in no way endorsing any of these songs. Except Africa). Anyway, probably worth a listen and definitely worth a donation. Here’s the dirt.
